Jennie’s parents, Daniel and Gyda Larsen, emigrated from Norway. She was the youngest of seven children and the last of her generation in the entire extended family.
Jennie married Dester Summers shortly after World War II.
They had three sons and were married for 72 years. For more than 30 years, Jennie designed and Dester built many new and remodeled homes in North Seattle. She also did the bookkeeping for the company.
Among Jennie’s favorite things were playing cards (such as bridge, poker, and pitch), fishing, crafts, and writing poems, thoughts, and remembrances. But most of all her favorite thing was her family—sons and wives, four grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-grand children. She was very proud of them and loved our family gatherings.
A celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 20. Contributions in her honor may be made to The Times Fund for the Needy or Feed the Children, two of many organizations Jennie supported, or any other worthy groups extending help to the less fortunate.
