Joan passed away on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2021 at the age of 89 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her sister, Sally: daughter, Paula: sons, Phil, Terry, Tim and Steve: 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carter and Bernice: her husband, Gil: her twin sister, Ruth: and son, Keith. She attended Adult Education classes at Green River Community College, receiving her GED in 1965. She was the commencement speaker at her graduation. After graduating, Joan worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, later US West, as a telephone operator and fraud investigator until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and hiking trips to Mount Rainier with her family. Joan and Gil frequently traveled all over the United States, visiting National Parks, meeting up with relatives and researching the family history. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society, EvergreenHealth Hospice or your local Hospice.
