John was our fourth child born in Puyallup at Good Samaritan Hospital. John was preceded in birth by his brother David (40), and his two sisters Sara (39) and Cheryl (32).
John was plagued with Asthma from birth, where he and his mother spent many evenings at Good Samaritan Hospital being treated for Asthma. When John was about 5 we moved back to Snohomish County and all the symptoms of asthma went away.
When john was about six he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His life changed forever.
John started his schooling in Mukilteo and graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School.
John met the love of his life Melissa Coco in High School and married Melissa on the 9 of August 2009.
John loved to camp and bowl, along with working on his cars and computers, and playing with his cell phones.
John’s diabetes continued to weaken his body, and more recently with the loss of vision in one eye, then kidney failure requiring dialysis four times a week, and most recently a sever blood clot in the neck. This year John contracted Sepsis for which he had to go into the hospital daily for intravenous injections of antibiotics.
John died unexpectedly, but peacefully, in the afternoon a week ago today at home from complications of diabetes.
John was preceded in death by his; grandparents Margret & George Kolb, and Lillian Gunderson; and mother Janice. John is survived by his wife Melissa; father Rod; Grandpa Arnold Gunderson; siblings David, Sara Brown, and Cheryl; several great aunts and uncles; aunts & uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews.
