He was born on February 21, 1991 in Seattle, Washington, to Kenneth and Anne (Kvarnberg) Strieby. Karsten graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School in 2009 and went on to graduate from Lee University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Karsten was a gifted athlete who loved sports. While in high school, he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He played collegiate baseball at Arizona Western, Georgia College, and Lee University. He was selected in the 30th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs, but chose not to sign a professional contract, and instead continued his academic pursuits. Following his playing days, Karsten served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Lee University.
He loved people and was a joy giver with a fun-loving presence. Karsten made friends everywhere he went and rarely missed an opportunity to lighten the mood. He had an appreciation for humor and always seemed to provide a perfectly timed one-liner. As a loyal friend to many, he was often a source of encouragement and always made an effort to provide a few uplifting words. He was quick-witted, kind, and had a coy smile everyone was drawn to. Most importantly, Karsten loved Jesus. He regularly attended Christ’s Church of the Valley in Scottsdale.
Karsten will be lovingly remembered by his parents Kenneth and Anne Strieby of Brier, Washington; his brother, Ryan (Kelsey) Strieby and nephews, Will, Hudson and Grady of Fort Worth, Texas; half-brother Kenneth (Melissa) Strieby Jr.; his newborn daughter, Brynn Isabelle; Aunts Marie Kvarnberg and Joyce Nordstrom; Uncle Arnie (Loretta) Kvarnberg and cousins; Michelle (Steve) Anderson, Anders Kvarnberg, Kris Kvarnberg, Katy (Chris) Miles and his beloved golden retriever, Jaxson.
Karsten was greeted in heaven by his grandparents Embrey and Mary Strieby, Arne and Ida Kvarnberg, Aunt Joan Cox and Uncle John Strassburger.
A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Karsten will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Purdy and Walters Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, Washington.
