Leslie Paul Wilkinson, 54, peacefully passed away in Yakima at Cottage in the Meadow on March 29, 2018, after battling squamous cell carcinoma cancer.

Les was born August 18, 1963 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. He was the son of Paula and Frank Hynes, Les Sr. and Deang Wilkinson. His siblings include Linda Hynes, Diana (Tony) Tomaso, David (Erica) and Steven (Kari) Wilkinson, Pasong Kon, Sovanny Kon, Sonnary Campbell, and Sopheany (Mark) Stevens. Les was predeceased by his mother.

Les met Kim Rice in Shoreline, Washington in 1984. They married in 1988 and had two children, John Leslie Wilkinson and Courtney Michelle Wilkinson.

Les graduated from Shorecrest High School in 1981. He attended Edmonds Community College to earn his Associates degree, and was also enrolled in the University of Washington’s ROTC program. He then served eight years in the Army Reserves, also earning his Bachelor’s degree in 1985 from Central Washington University for Criminal Law and Psychology. He also trained at the firefighting academy and served as a volunteer firefighter.

In 1994, Les and his family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska to begin a career with Morgan Stanley as a stockbroker. He excelled and then furthered his career in Bend, Oregon, with Royal Bank of Canada. After five years in Bend, Les and his family moved to Yakima, Washington to become Vice President and Branch Director at Royal Bank of Canada.

Les was part of Rotary Club, Optimist Club, and United Way. He received many awards including exceptional leadership and devoted service from Optimist Club, and an excellent performance award from Morgan Stanley.

Les enjoyed simple things in life such as outdoor activities like fishing, camping, shooting, yard work, and playing with his dogs Sparky and Bear. He also enjoyed working on his 1996 Bronco, tinkering in his garage, and finding DIY projects.

Les was a family man. He always made sure his family was taken care of, no matter what he was going through. He was loved by many, and touched people’s lives in an unforgettable way. He will be missed so much.

Les will be laid to rest next to his mother Paula on Saturday, April 14th at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, WA.
