Marguerite Anne Root

Marguerite (Gi) Anne Root, also known as Crandall, left for the heavens on Saturday June 27th, 2026. Marguerite went by the nickname “Gi” since she was a little baby. The story goes that she came home as Marguerite, then was called Maggie and then was shortened to “Gi” in one day.

Gi is lovingly remembered by her daughter Stephanie G Root Dickey and her granddaughter Lucille S Root Meyer, who were by her side at passing. She is also remembered by her brother David Root, sister in law Sandy Root and her nieces, son in law Conrad Dickey, nephews, extended cousins, family and friends. David Root (Brother), Jim and Michelle Gerheim (Niece, Nephew in law) were present for many of her last days with us. She was proceeded in death by her partner and love of her life Reginald Kennedy, her kitties, Minky, Emma and Einstein, Mother Lucille M Root, Sister Ella (Pink) Billmeyer, and Brother James Root.

Marguerite loved helping others, cared deeply about people and loved her family with all her heart. She worked a long career at Premera Blue Cross where she helped members navigate insurance systems, helping thousands get the coverage they needed over the years. She genuinely cared about others. Whether in an elevator or a grocery store etc she offered a listening ear and hugs to anyone who needed it. She also had some favorite charities.

Gi had a love for babies and would often enjoy conversations with new parents, smiles and play with new little ones. This often left those who were with her marveling at how she could always make the parents comfortable with the attention.

Marguerite also had a love for fashion and sewing. Something she had in common with her mother. She had several sewing machines, taught both her daughter and granddaughter to sew and made many a Halloween costumes and clothing attire for them along the way. She was also good at other arts and crafts as well.

Gi also had a huge love for gardening and going to garden centers. Many a fun day was spent enjoying plants and flowers with “her girls” and tending to her yard. Her lilac tree being a favorite. Many beautiful flowers continue to bloom after her passing. She had a love for feeding the “critters” Reggie and her had a assortment of squirly feeders, hummingbird feeders and a love for rabbits, deer and even a black bear when they saw them.

Marguerite was a huge presence in all her families lives. She cared about all her siblings, nieces and nephews, and new everyone’s birthdays and celebrations. Her love for her family was the highest. She had a quick wit and spicy sense of humor. She was exceptional at spelling and could quickly solve a Wordle and beat everyone at Scrabble every time. She was a deep thinker and an amazing person. We will all miss her deeply.

We know someday we will see her again, but have deep sadness that it cannot be today. We will look forward to the day we reunite and love her forever.
