

Marilyn Berger Jordan was born on July 13, 1933 in Deadwood, South Dakota to school Harry S and Lucille Berger. She joined brother Jim, who was not impressed by his baby sister. Marilyn passed away at home on October 20, 2025 surrounded by all of her surviving children.
Marilyn had an idyllic, small-town childhood filled with joining the neighborhood children in imaginary games, playing sports, and hiking throughout the Black Hills with her beloved dogs.
Marilyn attended the Deadwood School, where her father was the Superintendent and her mother was a teacher, for all twelve years with perfect attendance. After graduating, Marilyn attended Stephen’s College and Northwestern U. She graduated with a degree in Audiology and Speech Therapy. She headed west and taught first in the Seattle School District, the in the Adventist school system. She taught for 39 years, then continued to substitute, volunteer and teach writing until the age of 89. Throughout these years she was a very highly requested, and outstanding teacher. She was known for high academics, exciting stories, teaching students to be kind, and loving all animals. She was extremely kind, caring and compassionate.
Marilyn passed away surrounded by her children- Ann, Mark,David and Joan. (Beloved son, Bruce, preceded her in death). Marilyn’s memorial service is on Saturday, November 8, at 3:00pm at the Edmonds Adventist Church. Her burial will be at a later date in Deadwood.
