Marilynn Florence McGlashan 02/03/1948 - 11/22/2019 Marilynn was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois. She went home to the Lord on November, 22, 2019. Since her parents moved often, she spent her childhood living all over the country. Marilynn began her career in Chicago, and in 1988 she relocated to Seattle. Marilynn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Seattle College in 1996. She held a variety of administrative positions, retiring from the University of Washington. At times, she also worked as a live-in caregiver to the elderly. Marilynn overcame the stigma of her parents’ generation that was associated with epilepsy. She never let it beat her. She surmounted short-term memory issues by developing skills to help her retain information. Marilynn had organizational skills which others sought her out for. She was an efficiency expert, who excelled at identifying organizational inadequacies and redundant procedures. She had the persona to be a great listener, which made her very popular with those coming from all walks of life and, most recently, with homeless women. Marilynn was able to laugh at herself and often de-escalated tense situations by sharing times she’d been embarrassed or been taken advantage of. Marilynn was an avid photographer. Marilynn was an invaluable volunteer at the Elizabeth Gregory Home for homeless women. She was a treasured member of Christ Episcopal Church. Her life revolved around service to the community. As the pastor of Christ Episcopal said, she was one of the hidden saints that God tucks among us. Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Christine (Spagnoli) McGlashan and Kenneth Woerner McGlashan. She is survived by her four siblings, Linda Adam, Betty Godlas, Kenneth McGlashan, and Lisa Klow, and her brothers-in-law, Ian Adam, Alan Godlas, and Steven Klow.

Marilynn was such a joy. She was a true friend to me during my time at Christ Episcopal Church. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathies.

Marilynn gave off goodness and blessings the way a wood stove gives off light and heat. Even in the little things, she made it easier to do your best. She was a fine woman and a darling.
