

He was born January 15, 1928 in Redfield, South Dakota. His parents were Sarah Caroline Eidsness Palmer and Ephraim Ross Palmer. Marlin lived in Buffalo, South Dakota in 1930 at the age of 2. In 1935, Marlin’s family moved from South Dakota to Washington. In 1940, they settled in Adna, Washington. Marlin graduated from Adna High School in 1946. After graduation he enlisted into the Navy. He served in the Navy until 1947.
On April 20, 1953 he married Juliaette “Julie” Attaway in Chehalis, Washington. In the next three years they had three daughters, Diana, Julie and Roslyn. In 1959, Marlin and Julie packed up their family and moved to Mountlake Terrace.
Marlin worked in the auto industry in the parts department for most of his adult life. Marlin joined The Mountlake Terrace Police department as a volunteer and served his community for 22 years. In his spare time, he like to bowl and was on several bowling teams. He also liked to hunt during the fall. He loved his home at Blue Lake in Rim Rock Cove and would go over there anytime he could.
Julie and Marlin were married for 60 years before she lost her battle with Alzheimer in 2014. Survivors include his daughters: Diana Palmer, Julie Palmer and Roslyn Palmer. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William Floyd and Akiko Attaway. Four grandchildren: Ehren Ellison, Sarah Ellison, Michael Palmer and Amanda Palmer. Two great-grandkids: Corde Bell-Palmer and Jayda Bell-Palmer.
The Interment for Marlin “Sam” Palmer will be at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hill, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA at 12:00 on September 8, 2020.
