Born on May 8, 1940 in Boise, Idaho to parents Franklin and Dorothy Jeppesen, Suz anne also had two brothers. She graduated from Annie Wright School in Tacoma for high school and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Whittier College in California.
While in college, she participated in a student exchange program in Denmark, where she met Jacob, a young Danish naval architect. Jacob accompanied “Suzi” as he affectionately called her, back to America after the exchange program was over and they were married.
She began her teaching career at Van Assault Elementary School in Seattle, until they were expecting their first son, Jim. Three-and-a-half years later they were blessed again with another son, John.
The family enjoyed many summers visiting Jacob’s family in Denmark and despite not growing up around boats, she learned to love boating and activities on the waterfront with her young family.
Suzanne was involved in Enatai Elementary PTA, serving as their vice president, and volunteered at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Bellevue Christian School and the Nordic Heritage Museum. She also was a board member at the Foss Home.
She was kind, compassionate and had a servant’s heart for caregiving. She often cared for friends through illnesses, helping in every way she could.
Suzanne was also a beloved grandmother to her four grandchildren. “Grami” was always available for babysitting, reading, going to movies, shopping for cute clothes, spending weekends away in Sequim, and was known to bring Mentos mint candies to church to share with her grandchildren during the service.
She was also a cherished friend to members of her PEO chapter in Bellevue and counted the ladies in this group as her dear sisters. She and Jacob were also longtime members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, where they had many friends over the years.
Suzanne had an affection for the culture and country of Denmark and had an appreciation for their fine, hand-painted porcelain china and figurines.
More recently she moved to Lakeview Adult Family Home in Kenmore where she was well loved and will be missed.
Suzanne is survived by sons, Jim (Karen), John (Jen); granddaughters Kiersten (Jonah), Hannah and Haley; grandson Jacob; and great granddaughter Verity.
