

She was born on February 27, 1953, in Iligan, Philippines to Mariano Llauder Adeva and Mariam Balingit Adeva. Maryann was one of six siblings and lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Susan Adeva, Evelyn Adeva, Elsa Adeva-Tudtud, Manuel Adeva, and the late Luis Adeva.
Maryann met the love of her life and beloved husband, Richard, during her junior year of college in Cebu City, Philippines. In 1974, she graduated from the University of San Carlos with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and began her career as a PE teacher. In 1983, Richard moved to Seattle, and the following year, Maryann and their daughter, Candice joined him. Maryann and Richard married in 1985 and made their home in Seattle.
Her first job in the United States was at a Filipino restaurant in downtown Seattle. She later taught at Cascade Children’s Corner before beginning an extensive career at the University of Washington Medical Center. During her time at UW, she worked in the HIM department and several outpatient clinics before she eventually retired as a billing coordinator in 2021.
Maryann will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She had a deep passion for cooking, baking, and gardening. Her delicious Filipino dishes were cherished by many, especially her famous chicken rice casserole. She loved watching football and was an enthusiastic Seattle Seahawks and UW Huskies fan.
She found joy in spending time with her family – whether it was hosting family gatherings, going out for brunch or dinners, watching movies, or enjoying pedicures and matcha dates with her granddaughters.
Maryann’s warmth, quiet strength, and generous spirit touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Richard Englis, her daughter, Candice Englis, her son-in-law, Travis Ewing, and her cherished granddaughters, Hallie (Mika) and Lauryn (Emi) Ewing.
A celebration of life for Maryann will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036. The inurnment will occur at 12:00 PM with a reception to follow.
