Maxine Hutto of Lynnwood, Washington, went to be with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Lynnwood. She was 85 years young. Maxine was the eldest child of James E. and Mabel F. Dunning and was born in Ima, New Mexico on June 5, 1926. She grew up in the village of Grady, New Mexico on the family farm.
Maxine, James and their three children moved from Canyon, Texas to Seattle in 1957, and established a home in Burien, Washington. In 1957 Maxine went to work for Prudential Insurance in downtown Seattle and eventually transferred to Burien, where in time she became the Assistant Office Manager. She was working in the Lynnwood office at the time of her retirement in 1987, after 30 years of loyal service.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband James and son Roger. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Borden-Edwards(John), Issaquah, Washington, Sherri Hutto Ransom, Everett, Washington, grandson Alexander F. Ransom (Nikki), Bellingham, Washington, and granddaughter Amanda Grace (Amy) Hutto, Vancouver, Washington. Maxine is also survived by her sister, Sue Bergstrom (Herbert), Lubbock, Texas; brothers, Jim Dunning (Beverly), Wichita, Kansas, and Cecil (Sue) Dunning, Rockwood, Illinois.
Her family and many friends were very precious to her. She had such a warm, sweet smile and a very loving demeanor about her. She gave the gift of unconditional love to her family and friends. Beyond that, she was sweet and accepting of all those she came into contact with, regardless of how brief the encounter. You could tell her absolutely anything and know that whatever you told her would go no further! In all ways, she was a gracious lady.
Gardening and preparing delicious meals for her family were her delight. Family gatherings were the flowers of life to her. She kept her garden beautiful throughout the seasons and loved being outside gardening. The weekend before she went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Sherri helped her plant a new shrub in the front yard that she had given to her as an early Mother’s Day gift.
Maxine was a faithful member of Evergreen Community Church in Bothell, Washington for 16 years. She will be much missed by Bette Whitney, whom she loved as if she were her own daughter, and the many members of her church family that came to love her very much.
Maxine will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. We are comforted by the knowledge she is walking in the Heavenly Gardens and what a joyful reunion there was for her!
Maxine will be interred at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington beside her husband and beloved son, Roger.
A memorial will be held at a later date at Evergreen Community Church in Bothell, Washington.
