Michael, 16, was born April 3, 1998 in Edmonds, Wash. He passed away surrounded by family and friends at Seattle Children's Hospital on May 20, 2014, after a courageous battle against Leukemia. Michael was a sophomore at Cascade High School in Everett, although he was not able to attend much this year after being diagnosed with Leukemia last summer. He enjoyed school very much, and played on the JV Baseball and JV Basketball teams last year, and as an honorary member of the teams this year. Once a Bruin, always a Bruin. Michael is survived by his father, Bill Alcayaga, III, of Snohomish; his mother, Kristi Messenger; and triplet sisters, Amanda, Brooke, and Courtney Alcayaga, all of Everett; grandparents, Darlena Alcayaga of Seattle, Bill Jr. and Theresa Alcayaga of Auburn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was loved by many and had tremendous support through his illness from friends, particularly his girlfriend, Emily Goodin, and one of his best friends, Nik Soros. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Jerry and Marge Lovell; and an uncle, Mike Lovell, all of Edmonds; great-grandfather, Bill Alcayaga, Sr., and great- grandmothers, Dorothy Sonn and Alma Chastain, all of Seattle. Michael was laid to rest in the Rhododendron Garden at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood on June 2, 2014. A memorial service to celebrate Michaels life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at New Life Church, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seattle Childrens Hospital, or to the family via "GOFUNDME" on the Facebook community site, "Live for Michael". #liveformichael #live4michael
