Back in the day when sheriff's deputies were still being assigned to the jail, Mike and I began work in the old King County Jail at about the same time and became friends, socializing off-duty as well as on-duty. Chinese food restaurants were a common destination for us.  As my career with the Sheriff's Office took me away from the jail, we lost contact, yet over the years I have often thought about Mike and wondered if he had retired--or would ever retire!  Today, while doing some research on the Pang Fire, I again thought of Mike and decided to see if I could find him on a Google search.  I was saddened to hear about his death, now so many years ago.   God bless you, Mike.  Thanks for your friendship.

I had known Mike all the way through school including high school many many year ago.  He was always a bit of a class clown.  I can't remember a time that he ever showed any anger about anything or anyone.  We were very sad to hear of his passing.  -Fred & Jeanne Oliver

I will always cherish our 38 year friendship...fom the moment you gave me my badge and Commission Card to when you convinced me to become the Legal Advisor for our U ion, something the County probably wishes you hadn't.  I know that you are in good hands with our brothers and sisters that proceeded you.  We all will muss you. My deepest condolences to the Mun Family, especially Patty, Jeffrey and Robyyn. I can remember the very first time I met Mike, it was June 16, 1976 and our friendship lasted all these years. My last visit with Mike was last year at a lunch we had. I have so many fond memories over the years as we moved our careers through DAJD. Patty, I still remember the last day Mike worked and the two of you came down to say good bye, Mike wanted his last hour to be O/T. Rest in peace old friend.

Dear Mike, I'm remembering all of the good times we had together. Potlucks, golf, cards/dice, skiing, vacation trips, and of course, work. We did some really cool stuff! When I hired on in 1985 Mike was on my oral board, he made the process relaxed and encouraging. He was my supervisor in court-detail for several years and we spent some off time on the ski slopes which was fun and quality time together. Mike had a good heart and will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with him and his family.

I worked with Mike starting in 1975. He was a great teacher:polished, educated, smart and kind. I do not know his family but they must have shared his, and reflected his values, which for  most of us set the goal for us to aim for, but never hit. Simply put, he impacted my life for the better.

During the many years that I worked with Mike Mun, he was a friend as well as my supervisor. He had an engaging sense of humor and he knew enough not to take things too seriously. Since he retired, I have enjoyed seeing him often while he was out grocery shopping. He always had a good attitude. My sincere condolences to the family.

I was so very fortunate to have been taken under the wings of Michael over 33 years ago. He was a mentor, trainer, and an eventual best friend who took such great care of me during my career. Thank-you Mun family for also taking me in for all these years. I will always miss you and love you my friend...you were and always will be the best!!   Danno

Almost 33 years ago, I was adopted by you as your younger brother. You mentored me, trained me, and became my best friend. You gave me the nickname "Danno" and I will always remember you calling me by that name.  I will miss meeting your for breakfast at the Sawmill and talking about everything. Patty, Jeffrey, and Robyyn will always have a very large extended family. I can let it be known now that you picked up the tab for meals even after I lost! My very deepest condolences to the Mun family. I have many memories of Mike (some too funny and I cannot repeat) but most illustrate his sense of humor, quick wit and his love for life. To the best salesman I ever met, who could always convince me that I actually wanted to work when I truly didn't, I say "Rest in Peace" and "Thank you."   On behalf of the Officers, Sergeants, Captains and the 500+ staff of the Seattle Division, I send our love and respect, and say farewell to a good friend.

Though it has been many years since being under your command, my heart will be heavy with sadness just knowing your not there.  I have known you as a Sgt and then a Capt.  It is now time for you to rest.  You will be truely missed.

I had the pleasure and good fortune to work with Mike Mun - Captain Michael Mun for almost 10 years in the Department of Adult Detention. Michael was a consumate professional and very possibly the hardest working career manager I have ever met in the field of adult corrections. He was a battler - I remember visiting with him during a preious hospitalization and he fought back and I wish to offer my deepest condolences to his family.
