

Mildred, the sixth of nine children born to John J. and Lydia Schwartz, was born in Lookeba, Oklahoma in 1914, and moved to Washington State when she was about 4 years old. Growing up, she helped out on the family farm in Monroe, WA and attended Monroe High School before marrying Alvin Lee Clark on September 9, 1932 and then moving to Seattle, WA. She was raised in the Mennonite Church, but participated in the spiritual life of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and St. John United Lutheran Church in Seattle. Mildred enjoyed traveling throughout the United States by camper, often with family and friends along, and she rarely missed her family’s annual reunions.
Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband Alvin Lee Clark on September 4, 1965 and by her second husband Don Barrett on April 19, 1984. She lost her son Gerald Jay Clark on February 13, 1991. She was also welcomed into heaven by brothers Albert, Emil and Clarence Schwartz and her sister Ella Flickinger.
Mildred is survived by three of her children: Leo A. Clark of Seattle, WA; Shirley A. Miller of Maple Valley, WA; and Kathy L. Evans of Valley, WA, as well as four siblings: Clara Gerber of Monroe, WA; Irma Albrecht of Vancouver, WA; Alfred Schwartz of Ben Lomond, CA; and Leora Hansen of Kenmore, WA.
Mildred was blessed with 14 grandchildren, including Lynne Long and Larry Clark; Deborah, Jay, Jon, Jaysen, Justin and Jaymes Clark; Lara and Nicole Miller; Maria and Michael Heath; and Charles and Krista Moody.
Her 16 great-grandchildren are Teresa Legler and Paul Long; Brad and Eric Clark; Amber, Serenity, Anisa Mae, and Elijah Clark; Adrhia Franco Miller; Marissa Heath and Tiana Ulu; Michael and Kaleigh Heath; Jarrett and Autym Moody; and Jenica McQuaid.
She also had 4 great-great-grandchildren: Ethan and Kaylan Legler; and Connor and Isaac Long, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Mildred Clark was laid to rest on March 19, 2011 at Floral Hills Cemetery, located at 409 Filbert Rd., Lynnwood, Washington. Family and friends gathered for a memorial service at 1 p.m. and a graveside service at 2, followed by a meal to celebrate her long, rich life.
