Dear Grandma,

Although you are no longer physically with us, your presence lives on in every corner of our lives. Your legacy continues to live on in each of us in the words we say, in the gestures of love we share, and in the values ​​you taught us with such heart.

We strive every day to preserve your teachings, to be as kind, strong, and caring as you always were. Your love remains the bond that unites our family, the same love that taught us to stick together, to support, and to forgive.

We often share stories about you. These anecdotes make us laugh and also fill us with nostalgia, and we feel comforted when we remember you. It comforts us to know that your spirit continues to be with us, guiding and protecting us from heaven.

Thank you, Grandma, for leaving us such a beautiful example of life, for your tenderness, your wisdom, and your strength. You live on in our hearts, in our actions, and in the love we continue to share as a family.

We love you and remember you with deep affection, today and always.

Querida Tía Olga.
Agradezco a Dios y la vida, por entregarme la oportunidad de conocerla en Chile, las  veces que viajó a sus tierras, siempre fue tierna y amorosa conmigo.  No cabe duda que Dios le tiene preparada una morada especial. 
Que Dios llene de paz a cada uno, con la dicha y fortuna  que deja un gran legado de amor unión familiar que nada ni nadie podrá romper. 

La recordaré por siempre.

-Poem de su Nieta Kalina 

Waking up to the sound of your alarm in the early morning,
with the scent of sunlit, rain-kissed grass drifting through the window,
the sunlight warming my face
as I lay wrapped in your clean, pink silk bed sheets.
Then, finding you outside-
already tending to the day,
already smiling, gardening,
the air filled with birdsong-your favorite music.
You always paused for the birds,
as if they were old friends dropping by to say hello.
You taught me to listen to them,
to see the beauty in even the smallest wings.
From those endless nights staying up,
Laughing and chismeando under the stars,
as if the moon waited just for us.
You walked my cousin and me to the bus stop,
and on the way home,
we’d collect wildflower seeds from the cracks in the sidewalk,
tucking beauty into our pockets.
We spent hours in the kitchen,
where you taught me and my cousins that food was more than nourishment-
it was love, it was discipline, it was legacy.
In every stir of a pot, in every pinch of spice,
you passed down generations of strength.
You embraced everyone as your own-
no judgment, only love and acceptance.
You made strangers feel like family,
and family feel like home.
At night, we’d sit with the Bible open,
and you’d help me read to you in Spanish.
Even when I struggled, you were so patient.
You didn’t just want me to understand the Word of God-
you wanted me to understand our language, our roots,
and the rhythm of something bigger than ourselves.
Now, I will walk this world
carrying everything you gave me-
your wisdom, your light, your unshakable love.
I will teach my children,
I will cook with my primas,
I will laugh with my tías,
and I will always feel you close.
You are not gone, abuelita linda-
you are simply everywhere now.
In the scent of fresh rain,
in the songs of the birds on quiet mornings,
in the love of the kitchen,
in the wildflowers growing through cracks of the sidewalk.

Tengo lindos recuerdos de mi niñez cuándo íbamos de vacaciones a Caletones y la tía nos regaloneaba con ricas comidas era muy cariñosa, lo pasábamos muy bien jugando con los primos, para la familia les envío mis condolencias y bendiciones, descansa en paz tía querida.

Goodbye, a cruel word invented by sorrow,
an echo of what ends, a cry of what begins…
a plea from the eyes that do not want to cry…

My dearest mother, just as the poem says,
the eyes may not want to cry,
but the soul and heart of each of your children
weep and will eternally weep at your passing.
And though I am certain you will always hold us in your heavenly embrace,
we will no longer feel your loving arms sheltering us.

My beloved mother, I will no longer enjoy our familiar getaways
to the Azteca to savor your favorite dish-
shrimp in garlic sauce.

Your fragrant, multicolored garden of varied flowers will no longer bloom without you.
Nor will the pure waters of your fountains dance
to the music of your presence.
We will no longer taste the “porotitos granados,”
traditional dishes from our land
that you tirelessly harvested and gifted to us every year.

Dear mother,
you have left us with hearts full of pain and longing,
and with empty arms.
But you leave behind your legacy of love, respect, honesty, humility, modesty, integrity, justice, and hard work-
and with the assurance that if we live by the principles you taught us through your example,
we will be together again.

In the meantime, I will feel your presence in every flower,
in every butterfly and little bird.
I will feel your maternal love in every pleasant fragrance that floats on the breeze,
in every breath of air that kisses my skin,
and in every melody that envelops my soul.
I will know it is you encouraging me from beyond,
where you now rest with our Creator.

And though I can no longer physically embrace you,
I will sit in solitude and watch the beautiful sunsets,
and remember the ones we used to watch together-
through the years, in all the places life took us.

Dearest Mother,
I have loved you above all,
and today, from the depths of my heart, I ask you—
forgive the moments I caused you sorrow in your life.

Adiós, cruenta palabra que inventó la tristeza, eco de lo que acaba, grito de lo que empieza… súplica de los ojos que no quieren llorar…

Madre mía, como lo dice el poema
los ojos no querrían llorar, pero el alma y corazón de cada uno de tus hijos lloramos y lloraremos tu partida eternamente. Y aunque tengo la certeza que nos tendrás siempre en tu regazo celestial, ya no sentiremos tus amorosos brazos cobijándonos.

Mi madre querida, ya no disfrutaré de nuestras acostumbradas escapadas de antaño al Azteca a saborear tu platillo favorito, camarones al mojo de ajo. 

Tu jardín fragante y multicolor de variadas flores ya no brotará sin ti. Ni el agua pura de tus fuentes danzará al son de la música de tu presencia. Ni saborearemos los “porotitos granados”, platos típicos de nuestra tierra que con tu arduo trabajo cosechabas y nos regalabas anualmente. 

Madrecita, nos has dejado con el corazón henchido de dolor y nostalgia y con los brazos vacíos. Pero nos dejas tu legado de amor, respeto, honestidad, humildad, modestia, integridad, justicia, esfuerzo, y con la confianza de que si nos ceñimos a los principios que nos enseñaste con tu ejemplo, estaremos juntas nuevamente. 

Entretanto, palparé tu presencia en cada flor, en cada mariposa y pajarillo. Sentiré tu cariño maternal en cada agradable fragancia que flote en la brisa, en cada hálito de brisa que bese mi piel, y en cada melodía que envuelva mi ser. Sabré que eres tú dándome aliento desde el más allá donde reposas junto a nuestro creador.

Y aunque no te pueda abrazar físicamente, en soledad miraré las hermosas puestas de sol y recordaré aquellas que solíamos mirar juntas a través del tiempo en distintos lugares donde nos llevó el destino. 

Madre Querida, te he amado por sobre todo y hoy, de corazón te pido, perdona los disgustos que te di en tu vida.

I would like to send my condolences to Anita and her family for the loss of their lovely mother. May God Bless Her Soul and Place Her in the Heaven.

Su legado sigue vive en cada uno de nosotros. Nos esforzamos por conservar su valores y cualidades, por ser tan amables y fuertes como usted. Su amor sigue uniendo a nuestra familia. Aunque ya no estés físicamente aquí, compartimos historias, reímos y nos reconforta saber que su espíritu sigue vivo en nosotros
