Ove Brekke

Ove was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, boss, and all around a truly amazing human being. Ove was a man whose presence touched the lives of all who knew him. He was born in Hareid, Norway December 20th 1961, son of Liv and Svein Brekke the middle child of five. Ove was drawn to the sea at a very young age, so he finished school early and went out to start fishing on shrimp trawlers until he made his way to factory trawlers. He had fished around the world, then came to Seattle as a deck boss to be a part of the new generation of factory trawlers fishing in Alaska. Ove started working for Emerald in 1990 then met Elizabeth, the love of his life and married in 1993 and together went on to have three children. In 1997 he started working with American Seafoods on the Ocean Rover F/T as a deck boss until the year 2000. Ove took the job shoreside where all of his knowledge and previous experience showed us what a true professional was. Ove's contribution to ASC was huge and his colleagues who quickly became friends and family, will remember him for his wisdom, humor, spirited ability and his beautiful smile.

Ove is survived by his wife Elizabeth; and children Kasandra, Evan (Rosalie), and Sven. He is also survived by siblings Per Svein (Heidi) Brekke, Jan Lidvard Brekke, Bjorn (Perdis)Brekke, Lisbet (Oyvind) Lislevatn.
