Patricia (“Pat”) Lynn Ennis, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 8, 2021 surrounded by her children. Pat was born on August 12, 1947 in Alexandria, VA to Billy Sunday and Martha Ellen Williams and was married to her high school sweetheart, Nelson Wayne Ennis from June 1964 until his death in January 2020.
As a young girl, Pat performed in a ballet troupe with Barbara Anne Eisenhower, the granddaughter of then-President Dwight D. Eisenhower for several years and was given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with the ballet troupe for President Eisenhower in the Oval Office in 1959. There is a well-known AP image depicting the ballet troupe that appeared in numerous publications. Pat was also a trained classical pianist and loved music of many genres, although Neil Diamond was her favorite artist.
Pat began her professional career as a court reporter before breaking through several professional glass ceilings throughout an almost 30-year career with the Internal Revenue Service. Despite having a full-time career, Pat taught back-to-back aerobics classes several times a week during the 80’s and 90’s and was known for her physical fitness and stamina. Her children knew that she could outrun them and did their best to govern themselves accordingly. While Pat was more reserved and introverted, she was beloved by those whose orbits she entered.
Pat enjoyed watching old movies, true-crime documentaries, reading, and spending time with her family and pets. She had a quick, but good-natured, sense of humor and would hilariously banter with Nelson throughout their almost 56-years of marriage. Pat also loved sports of all kinds but was not to be interrupted during football season. She will be remembered for her grace, determination, sense of humor and love for her family.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Wayne Ennis, her parents, Billy and Martha Williams, sister Ruth, sisters-in-law, Nancy Lam, Joyce Sohns and Peggy Willis, brother-in-law Helmut Sohns, and nephews Gregory Evans, Benjamin Willis, David Sohns, Steve Sohns and Chuck Lam.
Pat is survived by her three children, David, Mark (Dawn-Marie) and Jennifer Ennis Bollen (Sean), loving sister Diane Evans (Winfred) and brother-in-law Charles Lam. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life reception will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 11:00 am. Arrangements are in the care of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
