With heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Pearl Esther Prater, who departed this life in the early hours of July 26, 2025 at Swedish Edmonds, surrounded by her loving family.
Pearl was born on March 31, 1936, on Bainbridge Island, Washington, one of eight children of Phebe and John Morgan.
She was raised in Bothell, WA, and attended Bothell High School, where she met her future husband, Glen Allen Prater. They were married on March 2, 1956, later settling in Shoreline, WA, and raising two children, Chris and Allen.
Pearl was known for her spirited participation in charity football events, where she famously played quarterback, regular rounds of golf, and involvement in local bowling leagues. Baseball was a lifelong passion, one she inherited from playing with her brothers and joyfully passed down to her own children and grandchildren. She also delighted in sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful handmade treasures infused with love.
Family was at the center of Pearl’s world—she was a devoted mother and a deeply cherished grandmother. She took immense joy in raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, nurturing them and weaving family memories that will last a lifetime.
Pearl’s legacy is one of steadfast love, strength and generous spirit.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Chris Rosen, her daughter-in-law, Shawn Prater, and her grandchildren Marissa, Brian and Jillian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Prater and her son, Allen Prater.
A memorial service will be held to honor Pearl’s life on August 16, 2025, at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington at 11:00am.
