Ray/Nicky was born September 1, 1939, to Raymond and Barbara (Richards) Bennett in Walkerville, Montana. He grew up mainly in the Seattle area with his older brother Ernest (Ernie) and several close cousins. Their adventures were the cause of many a gray hair for their poor mothers.
After high school, Ray joined the Army and was stationed in Germany with his first wife and their 2 daughters Suzanne and Rene.
He married Janice (Jan) Boe in 1970, and 3 more children followed, Katrina (Katie), Deena, and Eric. The family lived in the Burien area for many years.
Ray was a go-getter. He always had some project or invention going in the background. Throughout his life he was a computer engineer, glass blower, wood worker, carpenter, and artist. He made many beautiful clocks using movements he purchased during his time in Germany. Never one to be idle, he continued working well into his 80s. He enjoyed a good (or bad) joke and would usually greet people with some silly pun or ridiculous story followed by his booming laugh.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Jan, 4 daughters and one son – Suzanne (Dave) Martinson, Rene (Ed) Suruda, Katie (Donny) Schaff, Deena (Rodney) Storm, and Eric (Melissa) Bennett, one brother, Ernie, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
