Bob McMaster passed away peacefully with family surrounding him. He was 89 years, 4 months, and 18 days young! He was born to Jessie Bell Pope and Hiram Frank McMaster in Calumet, Michigan, the third son of seven. He graduated from high school in Havre, Montana. He also graduated from Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana. He joined the 36th Infantry Division of the US Army with special training in SIAM (Signal Information and Monitoring) in 1942. His separation was in 1945. He was in the European Theater (North Africa, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria.) He married Phyllis May Sjordal in November of 1945. They were married 66 years. Throughout his life he loved to play sports basketball, soccer, track and golf. Hunting and fishing were loves he shared with his family and friends. He was baptized as an infant, taught the Lord’s Prayer by his older brother Bruce when he was eight. He joined the Lutheran Church in 1947. He was able to retire from two different jobs. The first was the Great Northern/Burlington Northern and the second was his son-in-law’s company. Total working time was 70 plus years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, and sisters in law. His children, grandchildren, greats, great greats and nieces and nephews remember a man who loved them all, who loved life, was humble and a tease.
