Roger passed away December 6, 2011 at Evergreen Hospital from complications of Parkinson’s. He was born in Beaver Dam, WI on August 6, 1928 the son of Lawrence and Esther {Beyer} Handyside. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Selma Alsum in 1949 at Dubuque, IA. In 1956, he moved his family to Seattle and began work at the Boeing Co. He retired Boeing in 1983 as the manager of the precision casting foundry. Upon his retiring, he and Selma moved to Lynden, WA until the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Selma; son, Roger “Skip” Handyside of Marysville; daughters, Valerie Jacobson (Tom) of Seattle, Vicki Handyside (Mike Early) of Port Townsend and Debbie Linde (Ted) of Bothell; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral and Interment Services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, 1:00pm at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA, 98036
