Rosalina Ibay Espiritu, age 91, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 13, 1935, in Lupao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to Alberto and Encarnacion Espiritu, Rosalina immigrated to the United States in June 1986 to build a new life. Throughout her career, Rosalina worked as a housekeeper, babysitter, and nursing assistant before becoming a respiratory technician at Swedish Medical Center, where she served faithfully for approximately 25 years until her retirement at age 82.
A woman of strong faith and determination, Rosalina dedicated much of her time to helping others. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life, and she frequently volunteered at the Veterans Hospital and Catholic Service Outreach Ministries and served as a Eucharistic minister at St. James Cathedral. In her earlier years, she was an amateur bowler and was awarded numerous trophies. She was also an avid Scrabble player who loved gathering with family for friendly competition. She enjoyed swimming and traveling, exploring destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.
Through her faith, hard work, and perseverance, Rosalina successfully brought her three children and their families to the United States, where they established stable, blessed lives in Seattle. Though reserved in nature, she was tenacious, with a generous heart and a deep devotion to her family, friends, and faith. Her kindness and strength touched not only her family, but also the many cherished friends she made throughout her lifetime.
Rosalina was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Jimenez, and her great-grandchildren, Arthur and Arwan Jimenez.
She is survived by her daughters, Angelina Jimenez (John) and Ursula McCarthy (Bill); her son, Arturo Jimenez Jr. (Josefa); her grandchildren, Anya Mañus (William), Aykee Jimenez (Mara), Angelo Jimenez, Ayana Jimenez (Guy), Aaron Jimenez (Katherine), Alexis Jimenez (Jackson), Caleb McCarthy, and Elijah McCarthy; and her great-grandchildren, Amethyst Jimenez, Nolan Mañus, Niklas Mañus, Azlan Jimenez, and Grei Malvarosa.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her loving granddaughter, Anya, and her devoted companions, Lita, Jessa, Ross, Maxi, Nini, Lynn, and Maria, for the love, compassion, and dedicated care they provided during the final months of her life. Their kindness and companionship brought her comfort and peace, allowing her to spend her final days in the warmth of her own home, surrounded by love.
