Rose Marie Robertson was born September 30, 1922 in Chinook Washington in their beautiful family home built by her grandfather from Sweden. She lived at the mouth of the Columbia River and grew up with her parents, sister Jane, and brothers, Al and Lars. She grew up loving the beach and she was a very strong swimmer. Mom was born the year King Tut’s Tomb was discovered so she was fascinated with Egypt, but her favorite history was about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Rose moved to Seattle with her family and graduated from Ballard High School.
Rose worked at a dry cleaning business and was saving up to go to the University of Washington when she met a Mississippi boy named Walter T. Patterson. They got married May 9, 1942 and lived in Seattle for a few years then moved to their beloved home in Edmonds. At that time Edmonds was country and their property backed up to 200 acres of deep woods. They raise their four children there and their home was the gathering place for most of the neighborhood children many days as many as fifteen extra children gathered around the kind and loving Rose. She loved her home, her beautiful rose garden, hunting for jewelry but most of all she loved her family, friends and church.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Walter T. Patterson, sons Harlan Patterson, Melvin Patterson, daughter in law Frieda Patterson. She is survived by her son Mark Patterson, daughter Adella Walter (husband Bill Walter), daughters- in- law Jean Patterson, Martha Patterson, and 10 much loved grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rose was much loved and will be dearly missed.
