early hours of Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after a short battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.
“We will laugh our way through this.” He said to his wife Kelli upon hearing the diagnosis of
terminal cancer. A statement like this sums Roy up. He was always cracking a joke, trying to
make you smile, and could cheer you up on your worst day. He was loving, kind, stubborn, and
goofy all the way up to his final days.
Roy grew up in Ballard, Washington graduating from Ballard High School in 1982 where he
bowled and played baseball. His passion for bowling led him to find a career at Sunset Bowl
where he worked for 25 years before they closed in 2008. For his accomplishments in the sport,
Roy was inducted into the Greater Seattle USBC Association Hall of Fame in 2016. Roy
continued to have a love for baseball and was an avid Mariners fan. In addition, Roy had a
passion for classic cars. He spent many sleepless nights in his garage restoring his own personal
cars as well as working on cars for others.
Throughout his life Roy made many friends and had unique relationships with each of them.
From bowling girlfriends, to fishing buddies, to adopted children, to non-blood brothers; Roy’s
passing leaves a void in all our hearts.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents Shirley and Helen Lynch. Roy is survived by his loving
wife of 27 years, Kelli; children Erika, Becky (Todd), Chelsea (Eric), Marcus, and Andrea
(Andrew); Grandchildren Zach, Hunter, Adam, and Cole; brothers Mike (Toni), Craig (Lynn), and
Gary (Darin), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 1:00pm – 5:00pm to honor
him and celebrate his life on what would have been his 58th birthday. The celebration will be
held at Leif Erickson Hall, 2245 NW 57th St, Seattle, WA 98107.
