SARAH MACALINAO ATIENZA, age 92, went Home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, September 2, 2013. Sarah was the beloved mother of seven surviving children; Isaac, Rhoda, Elizabeth, Ruth, John, Reuben, and Lydia. She also leaves behind 13 Grandchildren and 20 Great-grandchildren. Sarah is also survived by her only sibling, Faustino Macalinao, Jr. Her husband, the Rev. Max D. Atienza, preceded her in homecoming as did her parents, Faustino Sr. and Amalia Macalinao.
“To know Mommy Sarah is to love Mommy Sarah”. This was the sentiment shared by the countless number of people to whom she endeared herself throughout her life. Known for her grace, her sweet smile, and a kind and generous heart, Sarah was a living testimony of a truly Godly woman. For 61 years, Sarah was a loyal and devoted wife to her husband until his death 11 years ago. Together they raised a family which originated in the Philippines and later moved to Lynnwood in 1972. Decades later, their legacy continues in the lives of the extensive Atienza clan who still live in the area.
