Sarah Danielle Hunter, age 24 of Lynnwood, Washington passed away on October6, 2020. Sarah was born to Donna Hunter in Portland, Oregon on March 7, 1996. Sarah was a premature birth, weighing 1lb, 13 oz. She spent her first two months of life at the hospitals in Portland and then transferring to Bellevue, Washington where she earned the nickname The Pistol from Portland due to her fiery, fighting temper when she didn't care for the nurses to touch her. Her fighting spirit was evident even for one so tiny and she carried that spirit along with her beautiful curly red hair and infectious smile that would charm anyone throughout her life.
In early 1997 Sarah and her mother were introduced to a group called Northwest Center Child Development where she attended full time until the age of eight and then returned each summer for what was "camp." Sarah was featured at Northwest Center Child Development Golden Hearts Luncheon where she was featured as someone with profound disabilities and developmental delays and the impact she had on the center and the impact the center had on her. Sarah was blessed to continue to return each year until she was 14 when she developed a rare and debilitating auto immune disease that caused her to spend many months at Children's Hospital.
Sarah attended Green Lake Elementary School where she experienced joy and triumph in a warm and loving environment. Her teacher Cilla had an amazing and profound effect on Sarah. Before the loss of Sarah's speech, she was able to say "hi," "more," "kitty" and "mama." Grandma Isabel spent many hours with Sarah and enjoyed coaxing Sarah to say her own version of "Grandma." Sarah went on to attend Meany Middle School and Nathan Hale High School where she experienced the joy all high school students look forward to, that of attending prom at Experience Music Project and attending the high school graduation ceremony with her fellow graduating students. Sarah then went on to spend three joyous years at Maplewood Parent Cooperative School in Edmonds, Washington where her schooling concluded in June of 2017.
Sarah loved music, dance, swimming, traveling, cuddling and crafting with her mother and spending time with friends and family. Sarah spent countless hours with her Grandma Isabel who read books, took her walking and shopping at one of her favorite stores, Fred Meyer. Sarah had a love of travel near and far with her mother to fairs, festivals, parades, ferry rides, exploring in Washington, Oregon and California. She loved Harry Potter and especially loved the first two episodes, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In October of 2018 Sarah and her mother traveled to California to attend The Wizarding World of Harry Potter where Sarah was sorted into the house of Ravenclaw. Sarah had the traits of a Ravenclaw and one could always say Sarah was a unique and charming individual. Sarah will always be loved, never forgotten and forever missed.
Her mother asks that you leave your stories and memories of Sarah on her online guestbook. A book will be made for Donna who will have the pictures, stories and memories of Sarah.
