Sharon passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 7, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Sharon was born on June 21, 1939 to Kenneth and Leone Thompson in Seattle. She grew up in Ballard, married her life-long love David Hulten and settled in their home in Bothell where they raised their children.
Sharon was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She put her whole self into whatever her family needed, was active in the PTA and was a leader of the Greensleeves 4-H club. She volunteered with the local Boy Scout troop and was a Sunday school teacher at Woodinville Community United Methodist Church, where she attended for close to 40 years.
She was most proud of her work with the School-To-Work program in the Northshore School District, where she obtained jobs and internships for special needs students and directed them in job training and life skills. She loved her students and was proud of them each and every day.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dave; son Jeffrey; daughter Tiffani (Marty) Stauffer; grandchildren Emma, Grant, Benjamin, and Andrew Stauffer; sister Nikki (Mike) Braswell of Dayton, Ohio; and brother Tom (Terry) Thompson of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Lawson and stepdaughter Jean Marie Moran.
Sharon loved God with her whole heart and soul, and we are thrilled to be able to be reunited with her in eternity. She will be remembered as a joyful, humorous, intelligent, fun loving, kind, and compassionate woman who exuded grace and poise. A memorial service will be held at the Woodinville Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 4th at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Woodinville Food Bank or to The Alzheimer’s Association
