Timi was born October 16, 1963 to Barbara and Dave Oswalt at Northgate Hospital in Seattle and grew up in Edmonds with sisters, Toni, Teri, Tami and brother Eldon. In her early years, Timi and her sisters played kickball and baseball with the neighborhood kids in the cul-de-sac. She loved playing Hide and Seek, riding her bike and roller skating as well as playing tetherball in her back yard. She also loved to play House and often fought with her sisters over who was going to be the mother. Timi always won, and, of course, Eldon was the baby.
Every year the family took a road trip and it was during these trips that they saw some great places, Yellowstone Park, Old Faithful and Mt Rushmore. At Olympic view Elementary, she wrote all the scripts and created each character for a play entitled, The Carol Burnett Show, where she stole the show and got a standing ovation for her performance. Camping was another family activity that took place every weekend in Easton. Timi was the most graceful of her sisters and she loved ice skating and dancing. She was especially fond of square dancing and everything about it from the dresses to the social atmosphere. But most of all, she loved dancing with Ed.
Timi and her sister Toni joined the North Queens Drill team when she was eleven years old. During this time of parades, traveling and a lot of competition, she first met her good friend Lynn DeNoma. Later, she met her long-time friend, Kim Larion, who became part of the family from the first day she walked through the door, and still is.
Timi married Kirk Richter, the love of her life, in 1984 in a little chapel in Edmonds and had the reception at her mother’s house. They had four beautiful children, Jamie, Jessica Taylor & Kirk. Timi stayed home with her children while Kirk worked. Timi loved being a mother and planning activities for her children, such as camping in Blue Lake or bike rides on the Burke-Gilman Trail. They were a very active family. Though the marriage ended in 2000 after 14 years, Timi did her very best to make a life for herself and her children.
Timi worked at Lynnwood Mazda for about three years and then received her GED and enrolled in Bryman College to become a Medical Assistant. She graduated at the top of her class in 2004. Timi worked at many agencies for Medical Assistance and had the opportunity to work at Northwest Hospital which was her dream job. She loved her work and her patients and the patients loved her as well.
Timi and her mom were very close. They shared many happy memories throughout her life from the birth of her children to the family dinners, and much, much more. They spent hours talking on the phone and making each other laugh.
Timi was an amazing story teller; she always kept you captivated and interested in her story and her laugh was infectious. She was a fantastic cook. Holidays at her house were the best: her stuffing was “the bomb” as were her specialties, turkey and garlic mashed potatoes. They were all “out of this world”.
Timi is survived by her daughters Jamie, Jessica, and Taylor, her son, Kirk, her mother Barbara, her sisters Toni, Teri and Tami and brother, Eldon.
Timi will be missed greatly by all who had the opportunity to know her. Her big beautiful smile and her infectious laughter will be with us forever and she will always remain in our hearts.
Timi, we love you. May you spread your wings and fly.
