Velma was born to Freeman and Sadie Geer, October 18, 1928 in North Dakota. She lived in a sod house during the great depression. Her family relocated to Washington State when she was very young, eventually settling in Cle Elum. Velma worked hard her whole life in a variety of jobs providing for her family. She worked for 21 years at the Northwest Glass Company (now Ardagh) retiring in 1990.
Velma, more than anything, was proud of and enjoyed her large extended family. Some of her favorite memories were of her annual family reunions in Ellensburg, every Memorial Day for the last 69 years, including her nieces, nephews, their children and extended families. Velma had 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She lived in Bothell for 55 years. She was a founding member of Cross Point Church (formerly First Baptist Church) in Bothell where she attended and served many roles, including a long time Sunday School Teacher.
She loved to feed and watch the birds and squirrels. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her plants and spending time in her green houses. She was an excellent cook and always spoiled her family with her excellent meals, especially fried chicken and pies.
Velma was proceeded in death by her siblings Elliot Geer, Clifford Geer, Llewellyn “Red” Geer, Leslie Geer, Helen Geer and Ardis Christman, her husbands, Charles Woodbury and Macon Peck, her children Larry (Della) Alley, Ward (Sue) Woodbury, Donnie (Wes) Postle. She is survived by her daughters Marylyn (Mike Kirby) Whitacre, and Mary Ann (Bill) Gentry.
