Sept. 4, 1936 - Jan. 5, 2018 Jim was born September 4, 1936 in Burley, ID and died January 5, 2018 in Arlington, WA. He attended West Seattle High School and the University of Washington with Masters Degree in Computer Science. He retired from the Boeing Company. Jim was preceded in death by parents, Vernon and Evelyn Phelps; and daughter, Erin Fenn. He is survived by wife, Patricia Phelps; sister, Sydney Smith; daughter, Tamara Baker; grandchildren, Ripley and Piper; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Jim served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an accomplished sketch artist, hydroplane driver and pilot. He recently finished building a test plane at his home, hanger/shop. His mechanical skills were unsurpassed. Soar high on the prevailing winds James, you will be missed but always in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held January 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Purdy Walters - Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA. Reception to follow. In lieu if flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
