Walter Lloyd Remter was born January 22, 1939 to Walter Emil Remter and Kattie (Jones) Remter in Gregory, South Dakota. He attended Country School then graduated from Gregory High School in 1957. He joined the Air Force and served seven years working in an electronics laboratory at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. He met his wife Deanna Nadine (Woodward) Remter and quickly proposed. They were married several months later. After his tour of duty, they settled in Lynnwood, Washington. He worked for Boeing for 29 years doing similar work. Lloyd was a lifelong learner who had many credits and no degree. He studied engineering, mechanical, electronics and accounting. Lloyd considered hard work such as cutting firewood and working on cars “fun.”

His family was raised in Lynnwood, Washington, they enjoyed many fishing, boating and ski trips in their camper exploring most western states and parks. He enjoyed participating in the children’s activities, volunteering as a team bus driver and leader of various activities; hikes, sailing and canoeing.

Lloyd and Deanna were able to live their dream of early retirement. The house was sold and a trailer became their home for 11 years. They became “Snowbirds”, visiting family and friends along the way. He enjoyed the summers he was able to return to Gregory and be with family and helping his brothers on their farms. Winters they traveled to California or Arizona to explore and enjoy the sun, eventually buying a lot in Yuma, Arizona to share with Deanna’s sister and husband. They returned to Shoreline in 2005 to care for Deanna’s Mother. Lloyd died peacefully June 6, 2019 from complications of Parkinson’s. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Deanna, 3 children: Shawn of Mountlake Terrace, WA, Dannielle (Cimball) Adams of Wenatchee, WA and Matthew of Portland, OR. 2 grandchildren, Robert Cimball (Angel), Chase Adams and a great granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Cimball age 7 months. 2 brothers, Lowell and Michael of Dallas, SD and 3 sisters, Carol Fields (Mike Tescher), Pat Hall (David) of Casper, WY and Janice (Jack) Stukel of Gregory, SD, sister in law Lois (Larry deceased) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
