William Frost, known as Bill to friends and family, was born on August 15, 1937 and passed peacefully with family by his side just hours before his 82nd birthday at 5pm on August 14, 2019. Proud of his Native Alaskan Aleut heritage, Bill was born to Tom and Susanna Frost on the small island of Afognak, the 7th of 9 living children. He graduated from Kodiak High School in 1955 and went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Transportation from Washington State University in 1961, where he met his wife Joane. He spent the majority of career as an accountant, and also served in the National Guard. Bill is welcomed to heaven by his parents, an infant daughter, and his siblings Thomas, Joseph, Nicholas, Mary, Kay, Donna, and Richard. He is survived by his beloved wife Joane, son Jeffrey, daughter Tami and son-in-law Craig, grandchildren Zachary and Carlie, brother Bobby, and many extended family members.
Outgoing and friendly, Bill loved gatherings with friends and family. “He made family out of every situation he was in” and “he could start up a conversation with anybody.” A fan of everything WSU, Bill enjoyed organizing events with his fraternity brothers from Delta Sigma Phi, and watching sports of all kinds as long as a Cougar was playing (especially college basketball). As a member of the Cook Inlet Region, Incorporated (CIRI) native association, he rarely missed a local potlatch or meeting Thoughtful and kind, he loved the excuse of buying a baby present or gift to engage in his other favorite sport, shopping for a good deal! Known for his taste in cars, Bill liked drives in the county and road trips to visit loved ones. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
Memorial services will be held at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, where Bill was vested member and served on several church committees over the years.
