William Franklin Hoggarth, 87, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021. Bill was born October 19, 1933 in Maltby, WA to Benjamin and Lyda Hoggarth. He grew up on the family farm in Maltby. The farm would later become the Hoggarth Strawberry Farm. He attended Maltby Elementary and graduated from Snohomish High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
After being discharged from the army, Bill began his career as an electrician. In 1958, Bill met his future wife Theola “Sonja” Wangsmo at a dance in Mount Vernon. They were married on January 10, 1959. Bill and Sonja raised their four children in Mountlake Terrace where they lived for over 52 years. Bill retired in 1995. Throughout his life, Bill was an avid sports fan, golfer and gardener. He shared all of this interests with his children and grandchildren.
Bill was always willing to help those in need. For many years following his father’s death, he helped his mother maintain and operate the family strawberry farm, all while working full-time and raising four children. The family farm was eventually sold and is now a community park.
Bill was devoted to his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sonja on March 15, 2021; parents; siblings, Jean Brown, Joyce Moormeier, Donald Hoggarth, and Eileen Bonin.
