A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Antonie Walker officiating. Burial will follow the service in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends and loved ones on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Macon Memorial Park from 6-8 PM.
Dr. Dalrymple was born in Mount Moriah, Jamaica on July 6, 1937 to the late John Allen and Cordella Waters. She is preceded in death by her brother, Norman Allen, and sister, Norma Peart.
Barbara graduated from Windsor High School in Kingston, Jamaica, obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Hartford, and later went to medical school at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine where she obtained her M.D. She started her residency in OB/GYN at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and completed her training at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She, then, opened up her own private practice in OB/GYN. Dr. Dalrymple served her country in the Georgia National Guard, retiring as a Major.
After closing her practice, Barbara became a Medical Director in the Georgia Department of Corrections where she ran the medical office of several prisons throughout the state. Dr. Dalrymple retired completely from the state after many years of service. Barbara was a devoted member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of fifty years, Richard Dalrymple; brothers Herbert, Roy, Winston, and Desmond; sister, Jackie Lewis; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
