So many precious hours spent with Betty Jean. I was one of her friends with her at Camp Joycliffe when we heard “oooga, oooga”. It was Mr. and Mrs. Garfield in a yellow Model A Ford with a big red bow on the gas cap - a 16th birthday present for Betty Jean. The Garfields were as happy as we all were.
That very next Friday Betty Jean drove in the parade right down Cherry St. before the Lanier home football game with a car full of us.
When I spent the night at their house our hard and fast curfew had to be in time for Mrs. Garfield to get to the hospital for the 11:00 - 7:00 shift. Then when she got home she often made us waffles for breakfast before she went to bed.
My heart goes out to you J. R. and Ann and all her family and friends. She will be missed I know.
With love and prayers,

Our hearts hurt at the thought of Mrs. BJ passing away. She was one special lady and will be missed by so many! My favorite memory of her was in the church nursery. She was the best baby rocker ever! How she loved those precious babies and loving on them so their parents could spend time worshipping in the sanctuary. She loved to tell us about Rachael and what was going on in her life. I don’t think that I ever saw Ms. BJ without a smile on her face! Our family is out of town and we won’t make it to the celebration of her life, but we are sending love and hugs from afar. We love you all!

We are so sorry to hear about Mrs BJ .she was a great lady, we haven't known her as long as some do, but long enough to know her sweet heart! She was grandmother to many many babies at our church! All children loved her! Prayers for her husband and family! So glad that we had to change to know this sweet lady!

I was heartbroken to learn of Mrs. BJ's passing. She was a beautiful person with a heart of gold. I always enjoyed our talks while keeping the church nursery. She will be missed greatly. Praying that God will give you peace, strength and comfort as only He can.

It is with a heavy heart that I say heaven gained another angel yesterday. My precious Mema was such a gem. She loved children and had a giving heart. For those of you that I’ve made chocolate chip cookies for over the years, you have this lady to thank. You taught me a lot Mema. I’ll see you again someday. I love you very much.
