Betty Elizabeth Matthews (nee Preston), 87, passed away on September 22, 2023, in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was born on August 6, 1936, in Macon, Georgia, to Walter and Maude (Barbee) Preston. Betty is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Peavy; sons, Bertus (Karen) Matthews and Timothy (Janet) Matthews; daughter, Angie (David) Hayre; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Karl Matthews; her parents; and brother, Bobby Preston.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Betty's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Betty's memory.
