Charles Fred Turner, Jr., 95, affectionately known to those around him as Chuck or Sonny, passed away on February 20, 2026. A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on March 5th, 2026, at Snow’s Funerals and Cremations at Macon Memorial Park with Reverend Lynn Woodard officiating.
Sonny was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Ruby and Charles Turner. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine for 16 years. His time in the military would later greatly influence his great-nephew, Kennedy Bartlett, to follow in his footsteps and join the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the military, Sonny worked as a truck driver for Blue Bird where he later retired. Sonny was a friend to many, never meeting a stranger and often leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.
Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Mae Turner; father, Charles Fred Turner, Sr. ; brother, Jimmy Merrell Turner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Patricia Bartlett; brother, James Robert Turner, Sr. ; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express love and a special thank you to Sonny’s caretakers, Mrs. Triplett and Mrs. Brenda.
