David Virgil Jackson died on Saturday August 29th, 2026 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd Jackson and his mother Frances Jackson and his cousin Don Jones. He is survived by his cousins Wayne Jones (Beth) of Murrayville, GA, Mitzi Averette (Mike) of Raeford, NC, Connie Phelps (Raymond) of Augusta GA, Bonnie Cameron (Sam) of Fairhope, Al, and Todd Cofer (Gayle) of Eatonton, GA .
David was born in Macon and spent his entire life in GA. He grew up down the street from his cousins Wayne and Don Jones and spent many happy days getting into trouble with Wayne. When he wasn’t getting into mischief, he could always be found in his mother’s flower shop helping her with orders and making deliveries.
After graduating from the University of Georgia he grew up to become a talented graphic artist who spent time working for Delta Airlines and Transdyne, Inc, from whom he had recently retired. He enjoyed flying his drone, practicing photography and spending time with his various canine friends throughout the years.
He will be missed by all who knew him as a kind, gentle giant of a man who was always willing to help a friend in need. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Macon, GA on Saturday September 5 at 11:00am.
