Deborah Anne Lanier

Deborah (Debbie) Anne Lisenby Lanier, age 71, passed away and went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Monday, December 27, 2021 at her Snellville residence after a brief illness. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved son, Anson Brent Lanier. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald B. Lanier; son, Michael T. Lanier of Canton, Georgia; daughter, Erin Lanier Oates (Wyatt) of Atlanta, Georgia; beloved grandchildren Lily Oates and Natalie Oates; brother, Michael Lisenby (Nancy) of Swainsboro, Georgia; uncle, Ted Lisenby of Macon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a great many cherished friends.

Debbie was born in Macon, Georgia on December 2, 1950 to the late Jasper David Lisenby and Ann Snow Lisenby. She was raised in Macon and a member of the Second Baptist Church where she was nurtured by a group of devoted Christians. Debbie remained a devout and dedicated Christian and avid prayer warrior throughout her time on earth. She was a current member of First Baptist Church of Snellville (Church on Main) and was a member of the Seekers Life Group Sunday School Class.

Debbie graduated from Miller High School and Valdosta State College where she met her loving husband, Don. She was a devoted, loving and cherished Mother to her 3 children. Later in life she taught and retired from Gwinnett County Public Schools where her specialty was teaching Special Education.

She was a dedicated educator who was known to influence the lives of many of her students.

Debbie was known to all as having a deeply caring and loving disposition that held God, family, and friends as the most important gifts of life. Her granddaughters were a special blessing that she cherished. She will be deeply missed by her family.

The previously scheduled visitation has been canceled due to the increase in Covid, out of concern for everyone's well being. The Graveside service will still be held on Monday at 2:00PM in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
