Donny was born March 4, 1957 in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of the late Donald Patat and Patsy Carr. He was a graduate of Southwest High School he lived in Destin FL where he worked for UPS as a driver for 21 years, before retiring in 2004. He is the former owner of D.L.P. Contracting until 2014 when he became Maintenance Supervisor at Augusta Gardens Assisted Living, where he was loved very much by the people and residents he cared for.
Donny was an avid sports fan that loved the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He loved southern rock music and the blues. He loved listening to the Allman Brothers. Donny loved fishing, especially in the Gulf of Mexico while living in Destin. He loved his children more than anything, and lived his life for them. He was loved by so many friends and his family. He had a personality that was inviting, contagious, and funny, guaranteed to make you laugh. He left an impression on everyone he met and touched the hearts of everyone who knew him with his heart of gold and compassion for others.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Carr, daughter Kristy (Reid) Bland, of Fernandina FL; sons, Donald (Tripp) Lee Patat, III, of Davisboro GA, Heath Patat of Lincolnton GA; grandchildren, Gavin, Sophie, and Hadley; sister, Michele (Michael) Mongrue; nephews, Christopher, Oliver, and niece, Hannah Mongrue. Two special people in his life, Kathryn Smith and the late Diana Johnson, mother of his sons.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:30. Burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Keegan Mason will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Breaking Free, 2503 Breezy Hill Road, Davisboro, Georgia 31018, a church and ministry that he deeply appreciated and was involved in.
