

Dora F. Montford, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A graveside service will be held at the Macon Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Willie Imes will officiate the service. Family visitation will be held at the Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please visit www.maconmp.com to express tributes.

Mrs. Dora F. Montford was born in Macon, Georgia, on January 20, 1932, to the late Annie (Hodges) Ford and the late Ed Ford. Her late aunt and uncle (Lee and Melvina Poole) raised her as a child in Cordele, Georgia. On January 10, 2017, at the Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, she was called home to be with her Heavenly Father.
At an early age, Dora accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior by being baptized and joining the Straight Life Church of God Pentecostal in Cordele, Georgia. Dora was educated through the Crisp County School System (Cordele, Georgia) and at Union County College (Plainfield, New Jersey). She married the love of her life, Herman Montford Jr., on December 30, 1974, and they recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. Dora worked as a surgical tech at the Macon Hospital for twelve years. She retired from General Motors Corporation where she worked as an assembler and a union representative.
Dora loved spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, attending worship services, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
Those left to cherish the memories of Dora are her husband, Herman Montford Jr. of Lizella, Georgia; sister, Dorothy Whitehead of Macon, Georgia; sister-in law, Oletha Johnson of Dublin, Georgia; brother-in-law, Clifford Montford (Kim) of Plainfield, New Jersey; two sons, Eugene Grayer Sr. (Dale) of Plainfield, New Jersey and Willie Grayer Jr. of Kathleen, Georgia; one daughter, Cheryl Grayer-McDowell of Macon, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
