She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy Foster Childs (special friend Jim Kern) and Candy Foster Wimberley. She spent many days caring for and enjoying her three cherished grandchildren, Christie Childs (Paul) Lader, Tripp (Leigh) Childs, and Mark (Annmarie) Wimberley. Her dedication as a caregiver extended to her great grandchildren who filled her life with abundant joy, Bowen Foster Lader, Lundy Childs Lader, John Paul Lader, Zane Mark Wimberley, Damien Lahey, and Savannah Lahey. She and her surviving sister, Joan Flynt (George) Urban of Merritt Island, Florida, held a special bond and talked almost daily. Her surviving Florida family includes a nephew and three nieces plus numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was born in Macon to the late James F. and Doris Hunnicutt Flynt. She met her husband, Emmett D. Foster, at Ragan Park skating park rink, and they married on June 5, l948, two days after she graduated from A. L. Miller High School. He predeceased her on December 7, 2003.
For many years, she befriended many Riley Elementary students as a crossing guard. She was an expert seamstress and excellent cook who enjoyed family vacations, her many friends and Bible studies. Second Baptist Church, now known as Christ Chapel, was her church from birth where she was the pianist for numerous years, a Sunday School teacher and served her Lord with a servant’s heart and joyous spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor John Wood officiating. The family will greet friends after the service with burial following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Covenant Care Adoption Services, 3950 Ridge Avenue, Macon, GA 31210.
