On August 18, 2024, Dorothy M. Mathis joined her spouse, the late TSgt. George H. Mathis Jr. (Retired) 18 days after his demise on August 1, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Tubman African American Museum, 310 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201 with private interment to follow at Macon Memorial Park.
Dorothy M. Mathis leaves a Legacy of Love in the form of her son, George Mathis, III and is survived by her sisters: Lettie E. Johnson, Johnnie Mae Davis, Lillie Rose, and Renee' M. Butler.
