Douglas Eugene Sutton, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 12th, 2021. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. The family will meet friends one hour prior at 2:00 pm at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 5925 Price Road, Macon, Ga. 31220.
Mr. Sutton was born in Wilcox County, GA to the late Will and Eunice Wright Post. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Everett Sutton; his 2nd wife of 9 years, Lorine Adkins Sutton; his sons Randy Eugene and Mark Allen Sutton; and his siblings, Billy Sutton, Doris Everett, JD Post and James Post. Mr. Sutton served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the military, Mr. Sutton worked in construction and later with Cherokee Dairies when he left and started “Sutton True Value Hardware” in 1972. Later he opened Sutton Lawn Mower Shop and Repair and within just a few shorts years opened his 2nd True Value Hardware store in Perry, Georgia.
Mr. Sutton was a lifelong member of Bellevue Baptist Church, Pathfinders Sunday School Class and served on various committees at the church. He was a devoted Christian and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle with a sweet and gentle kind loving smile.
He is survived by his daughters, Jan (Shannon)Wilder of Macon, Tammy (Mike) Elliott of Macon, Gail (Keith) Lockhart of Marietta; daughter-in-law, Donna Sutton of Jacksonville, FL.; grandchildren, Ashley (Heath) McBay, Sean (Susanne)Wilder, Matthew (Jamie) Elliott, Justin (Jessica) Elliott, Blake (Alexis) Lockhart, Lauren (Ryan) Brown, Brad Sutton, Chase (Kalene) Sutton, Brock Sutton; great grandchildren, Susie Wilder, Emmie McBay, Laikyn McBay, Sutton Elliott, and Wells Elliott; sister, Jerry (Charles) Brooks; sister-in-law, Rachel Post; sister-in-law, Sunny Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins of the Post, Everett and Williams Family.
