

Dr. Luther Strickland, Jr., 69, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with entombment in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Lewis Stover and the Rev. Joey Hamrick will officiate. The family will meet friends from 11 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Dr. Strickland, son of the late Luther Strickland, Sr. and Barbara Ann Norton Strickland Efird, was born in Laurenburg, NC He served for eight years with the U. S. Air Force, one of those during the Vietnam War. Dr. Strickland was a graduate of Macon State College and earned his Doctorate from the Wilson Law School. He was retired from the FAA Legal Department, was in private law practice, was a real estate broker and pastor of DayStar Church of God. Dr. Strickland was a former member of the Macon Exchange Club. He was the brother of the late John Willie Strickland.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda C. Strickland of Macon; his children, Dawn S. (Dale) Tressler of Byron, Luther A. (Rhonda) Strickland of McDonough, GA, John E. (Malissa) Strickland of Tyrone, GA and Angela S. (Calvin) Kirkwood of Fayetteville, GA; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Strickland of Fayetteville, NC and Daniel Strickland of North Carolina; his sister, Frances Routh of North Carolina.
