E.J “Ed” Morgan, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 19, in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Robert M. Ott will officiate. The family will meet friends following the service at the residence.
Mr. Morgan was born in Coffee County, GA and was the son of the late G.L. Morgan and Ruby B. Morgan Courson. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He achieved the rank of Major while serving as a pilot during WWII and The Korean Conflict. He retired from Robins Air Force Base as a logistics specialist. Mr. Morgan was a member of The Back Porch Symphony playing the guitar and was a vocalist. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife Nell Chaplin Morgan.
Survivors include his daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Ott of Carmel, CA; sons, Nelson Morgan of Nicholson, GA and Mark (Tina) Morgan of Hickory, N.C; grandchildren, Wade Morgan, Allen Morgan, Laura Wyne, and Stephanie Proulx; great grandson, Connor Joseph Wyne; brothers, Palmer Morgan and Charles Morgan; and sister, Catherine Quick.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 432 Forest Hill Rd. Macon, GA 31204, in memory of his wife, Nell Morgan.
