Eleanor Ruth Brooks Mathis McGreggor, 88, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, February 19, 2018. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be private at Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Mike Fuller officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eleanor was born in Gordon, GA to the late Opal Nelle Jones and Julian Franklin Brooks. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca (Becky) Nell Butler Couch and brother, Julian Nat Brooks. She attended school in Gordon, GA and was the first graduating class from Warner Robins High School in 1946. Eleanor attended several business schools. She retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Electronics Warfare (EW) Division in 1985 after 32 years of service. Eleanor received letters of commendation during her years as IT Management Specialist of Bombing Navigational items and was awarded “AFLC Item Manager of the Year in 1972 – 1973”. She attended Midway Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years; Benjamin Louis McGreggor of Lizella, sons; Barry (Dianne) Mathis, Billy (Lenora) Mathis, Vincent (Cindy) McGreggor, grandchildren; Jason Mathis, Brian Mathis, Casey Mathis, Christy Holt, Heather Ratliff, Jeremy Mathis, Amber Martin, Hunter McGreggor, Sherry Johnson, Jenny Robinson, Ashley Honrath, brother; Charles (Ann) Brooks, numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
