Elmo Franklin Bridges, Jr. was born on October 23, 1940 in Miami, Florida and grew up in Lizella, Georgia. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Era and was later a member of the Army Reserves. Elmo worked for the Bibb County Transit Authority for over thirty years, and he spent a lifetime devoted to caring for his mother, Vera Bridges. His humble heart and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
He will be fondly remembered by his brothers, friends, extended family and especially by his four nieces and nephews who will always treasure their weekend adventures with Uncle Butch. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Franklin Bridges, Sr. and is survived by his brothers Louie A. Bridges (Thelma) and Mike Bridges (Somkid), his nephews and nieces, Anthony Bridges, Michael Bridges, Michelle Collins (Todd), and Natalie Pyles (Brad), and his great nieces and nephews, Anna Bridges, Lydia Bridges, Erin Bridges, Sam Bridges, Kami Collins, Hunter Collins, Madelyn Pyles, Jackson Pyles, and Sarah Pyles. A memorial service for Mr. Bridges will be held in March at Christian Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Pineview, Georgia.
