Emma Holland Carey, 84, of Eastman, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Savannah, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones. A woman defined by her resilience and love for her family, Emma leaves behind a legacy of strength and cherished memories.
Born and raised in Lyons, Georgia, Emma was the daughter of the late Jacob Marion Holland and Cuyme Anderson. While her life took her to many places, her heart remained rooted in the Georgia soil she so loved to tend. An avid gardener and an enthusiastic angler, Emma found her greatest peace outdoors—whether she was waiting for a bite on the line or watching her garden bloom. Her adventurous spirit also led her to travel, exploring the country with the same curiosity she brought to every part of her life.
Emma faced great loss in her lifetime, preceded in death by her beloved son, Skipper; her daughter, Nita; and is survived by her five children: Ricky (Diane) Rewis, Danny Rewis, Ellen Poole, Alvin (Susan) Carey, and Malachi; grandchildren: Tiffany (Chuck) Wimberly, Tabitha (Brent) Skipper Rewis, Tyler (Macy) Rewis, Brittany (Chris) Kalejta, Jessica (Charlie) Jones, Billy (Payton) Carey, Kimberly (Gary) Huerta, Erica Poole, Tonya Poole, and Jeremiah (Amanda) Tuberville and a number of great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and gather to remember Emma at 185 Fairway Dr. in Cochran. She will be laid to rest with a graveside service at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 122 Mount Pleasant Church Rd, Pineview, GA 31071, on May 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Chuck Wimberly officiating.
Emma will be sent to her final rest dressed for her next great adventure, wearing the comfortable clothes she loved most for gardening and fishing by the water.
Snows at Macon Memorial Park has charge of arrangements.
